summer haiku d’été – I’m an angel – je suis un ange

summer haiku d’été – I’m an angel – je suis un ange

you mean me?
no... I’m an angel kitty –
what bird?

angelic cat 620

tu parles de moi ?
non... je suis un ange félin –
mais quel oiseau ?

Richard Vallance

I bought this hysterically funny wood carving of a cat who just swallowed a bird in Nova Scotia in 2007.

J’ai acheté cette sculpture en bois d’un chat qui vient d’avaler un oiseau en 2007 en Nouvelle-Écosse.

Sappho, spelled (in the dialect spoken by the poet) Psappho, (born c. 610, Lesbos, Greece — died c. 570 BCE). A lyric poet greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style.

Her language contains elements from Aeolic vernacular and poetic tradition, with traces of epic vocabulary familiar to readers of Homer. She has the ability to judge critically her own ecstasies and grief, and her emotions lose nothing of their force by being recollected in tranquillity.

Marble statue of Sappho on side profile.
